A while ago I got an error 552 on the BB9000. Looking at the forum, I have downloaded the Desktop software and it has recognised it after a while.
It's given me the PIN which helps, but at the moment it's trying to connect. What have I done? Earlier, the Desktop Software was actually trying to update the OS (5.0 Bundle 1702 (v5.0.0.1049, Platforum 5.2.093) but as it did it said that a Desktop Software component needed to be downloaded. But the download failed for some reason.
I found the Bundle 1702 on a network provider website and successfully downloaded it, and it said that it had installed which I presumed it meant on the phone, as it is/was 129Mb.
However, after all this and taking the battery off, I am still getting the error 552 and the deskstop isn't able to connect to the phone. Am I wasting my time I wonder?
I know it's an old phone, but when it worked it was a neat little phone and I'd like to give it a fresh install to make it as good as it was or as close to that as possible.
The network it was on in the UK was T-Mobile, but there's a splash screen of the "3" network so I'm unsure if it's unlocked.
If I need to and am able to do so, I will provide more information if I can.
