I just updated my blackberry curve and then installed the blackberry software on my new computer. When this was complete it asked for my blackberry user ID and password. I did not have one so I set one up successffully.
I then attempted to connect my device to my computer with a USB cable as I could not continue with the wireless connection. It was requesting a hardwired connection. Once I did this it requested the password for my device. I assumed this was the security password that I used to access my phone. I entered this numerically from the number key pad a number of times and it did not work.
I then went back to my phone and entered it there and it worked so I tried again from the computer but again it did not work. I then thought that perhaps it was wanting my blackberry ID password so I tried that and it did not work. Thinking I maybe was entering my blackberry ID password wrong I changed it successfully and tried this password again. It did not work. So I went back to trying the security password for my phone. It would not work either.
Frustrated I then went back to the phone again and noted that now when I attempt to enter my password the characters appear which they did not before and I need to press the alt key to put in the numbers. Nothing seems to be working.
I am wondering if when connecting the device it was wanting my device security password or my blackberry ID password? I have one attempt left and then my phone will be wiped of the data that I really need. I was trying to set things up so that I could back the data up when all this started happening.
My last thought was that when I would normally enter the password on my phone I would simply key the numbers that I use without hitting the alt key. Now I am thinking that if I set it up this way perhaps I actually set up the password with letters rather than numbers. I am afraid to give it a try as it is my last attempt before losing all data. I would prefer to know first whether the device is now looking for the blackberry ID password or the security password? Is the blackberry ID password now the password used for my device as well? If not then I will try the letters and take my chances.
